In a superb clash at Cardiff Arms Park to mark Remembrance Day, Wales women emerged 43-5 winners over the UK Armed Forces to secure victories in both of their autumn games.
A series of quick tries in the first 20 minutes put the hosts in a commanding position at 19-0. The visitors held their nerve, but several probing runs from UKAF were successfully repelled by a well-drilled and absolutely superb Wales defence. Indeed, they have only conceded 5 points across both of their autumn fixtures.
We were thrilled to see the crowd was perhaps three or four times the size of the one which attended this fixture this time last year, with both sets of supporters suitably vocal. The fans were certainly treated to a game of extremely high quality, the skill sets in particular being top drawer from both teams.
A huge cheer went up when UKAF scored a try in the corner during the last play of the game, and it was no more than they deserved, following an excellent sweeping team move.
With longer to prepare (the team has only trained together since Wednesday) there can be no doubting that UKAF will be a real force to be reckoned with.
