Jonah Lomu: A Rugby Legend

A memorial service has been held in Auckland’s Eden Park to pay tribute to the one and only Jonah Lomu. In the last few weeks, I have read so many incredible articles and heard many remarkable stories about this true rugby legend. I was ten years old when he burst onto the world rugby scene. He unquestionably helped broaden rugby’s horizons, strengthen its appeal, and helped reshape this great sport at the very beginning of the professional era. A true gentleman, his physicality on the pitch was, by all accounts, matched with his humility off it, and I’m so glad he was able to witness New Zealand’s recent World Cup victory. What an absolute legend.
